These examples show a range of ways to approach a project. See how other students have developed their ideas, experimented and presented their work.
Look at what works well, take inspiration but remember:
"there is no 'best way' to create a GCSE project"
This student produced 4 related outcomes; an Album Design, CD, Album Advert and Gig Poster. A distinctive grunge aesthetic runs throughout the sketchbook, development work and final pieces, giving the project a strong and authentic visual identity.
This portfolio got full marks in every section.
This student produced two outcomes: a book cover and a travel poster.
They scored particularly well in AO1 and AO2, thanks to the quality of their research and the breadth and depth of their ideas and experimentation. Notice how they test, tweak and improve each element of their designs individually, allowing the ideas to gradually become more refined and purposeful rather than trying to resolve everything at once.
This student produced a logo and poster for a café in their first project and 2 chocolate bar designs in their second project. The final outcomes were created using Adobe Illustrator.
This portfolio got full marks in A04 and nearly full marks in the other sections.
“Yellow” was not a common choice for the exam theme, but this student produced an excellent sketchbook and set of outcomes based on the film Kill Bill. They produced four separate outcomes during their 10-hour exam and achieved full marks.
